Man Leaves Wife, Elopes With Mother In-law

After two months of marriage they are begging for forgiveness Mahto fell in love with his mother-in-law and left his wife to marry the older woman despite the wife and villagers opposing their relationship. But two months into his marriage to his mother-in-law, Mahto made a U-turn as he has realized his mistake. He is now seeking a divorce from his mother-in-law and wants to go back to Lalita, the wife he abandoned. Mahto fell in love with his 42-year-old mother-in-law when she came to stay with the couple in the village of Puraini in Bihar, in the north-eastern part of India in 2015 to look after Mahto became ill.
 
 When Lalita got wind of their romance, she asked her mother to leave her matrimonial home but her husband objected and later eloped with Devi to a neighbouring town where he married her. Regretting his action and begging for forgiveness Mahto says he has come back to his senses and wants to go back to Lalita. “I have come to realize my folly. I admit I have committed the mistake, but will never repeat in future. Now, I no longer treat her as my wife. Rather, I have started paying her regard as a mother. I am on my knees“I have come to realize my folly. I admit I have committed the mistake, but will never repeat in future. begging Lalita to allow me to come back home for the sake of our son,” Mahto told Gulf News.  Like Mahto, the mother-in-law too has realized her mistake and is seeking for forgiveness and also hinted on divorcing his son-in-law. She said: “I no longer treat him as my husband, but as a son-in-law. We have already filed a divorce petition in the court and I want to return to my husband as soon as possible.”
