– JAMB sets to establish examination centres outside the country for candidates who want to study in Nigerian universities JAMB has informed that the university admission letters of successful candidates will contain details such as admission status, school and course of study as well as duration of chosen programme. Dr Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s head of media and information told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) the details of the meeting of the Board starting from Monday, August 22 to Friday, August 26. JAMB’S spokesman had issued a statement earlier on Friday, August 19 which reads: “We are expecting a full complement of representatives from all the tertiary institutions in the country to attend the meeting.
“They are expected to submit the lists of first choice candidates shortlisted for admission into the respective tertiary institutions, comprising universities, polytechnics and colleges of education. Share on Facebook Share on Twitter candidates Nigerian university candidates “The board and all other stakeholders will collectively go through the lists to see if they had met the admission criteria. The board, if satisfied, will ratify the lists and admission printouts will be issued to the institutions.” The head of media and information stated that the names of successful candidates would likewise be put on the website of respective citadel of learning for candidates to print out. Benjamin said the admission letters will have information like admission status, school and course of study as well as duration of chosen programme. It was also disclosed that the board will set up more examination centres in foreign to cater for candidates willing to study in Nigeria. Benjamin stated that JAMB will make sure more candidates will be given the privilege to write the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) within and outside Nigeria. The Board’s spokesman said this would in addition endeavour that the examination was moved closer to candidates with the obstacles of travelling down to the country to write the examination. Benjamin stated: “We have plans of conducting this examination in more foreign countries, such as the United States, and others. We are working with the embassies of such countries, which are our contacts for the project.” Currently, the Board conducts its examination in countries like Cameroun, Saudi Arabia, United Kingdom, Ghana, Republic of Benin, among others.
