The Baale was arraigned alongside his son before Justice Lateef Lawal-Akapo over the murder of Olatunji, popularly known as Alhaji Gay , last year July.
The state arraigned them both on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy to commit a felony to wit, murder contrary to Section 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011, and murder contrary to Section 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
When their pleas were taken, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges. The deceased, a hotelier, was reportedly murdered during a riot on July 20, 2015 in the Alagbado area of Lagos State.
The judge has subsequently ordered that the defendants be remanded in Kirikiri Medium Prison custody, and thereafter adjourned till June 23 for argument on bail applications.
Meanwhile, an elder sister to the deceased, Madam Ganiyat Olapeju Popoola told newsmen after the proceedings that Alhaji Gay’s wife whose name was given as Idowu, delivered a baby boy yesterday morning, contrary to rumours going around that he had no wife.
