Youths In Motion holds conference on Building Civic Leaders- Grand Finale of Democracy In Action (DIA-OYO) Project
On January 10, 2017, Youths In Motion, an international youth movement co-founded by Timi Olagunju, a Presidential Precinct & Mandela Washington Fellow, launched its Democracy In Action (DIA-OYO) programme; an initiative targeted at training selected youths and secondary schools students in Ibadan and environs on building civic leadership, democratic participation, social values and enterprise.
The project which has lasted for a period of seven weeks engaged about 20 selected youth participants and students of in Oyo State on a structured tour to observe parliamentary sittings, and receive simulated training on democratic participation, communication, and policy making.
The idea, which involved about 20 selected fellows and over 20 public and private secondary school students in Ibadan and environs, has reached out to over 1000 students and youths in total, through a pairing/tutorship scheme it embarked on.
The Grand Finale of this project with the theme “Building Civic Leaders and Social Entrepreneurs” is scheduled to hold in the University of Ibadan, Nigeria where non-profit leaders and civil advocates are expected to gather on Saturday, March 4, 2017, beginning from 8:00 a.m
