[Hawnsgist] Grandmother Breastfeeds Baby While On The Run From Boko Haram

This old woman has shown more courage and fortitude than a lot of so-called brave Nigerians. She survive the boko haram menance while ensuring her granddaughter survived. Her daughter died 40 days after the birth of the child, leaving the aged woman to fend for it.

According to reports, a woman in her 50s identified as Aisha Modu, had to save her newborn grandchild by breastfeeding her just to save her eventual starvation.

Aisha and her grandchild were fleeing from the deadly Boko Haram who had already captured Aisha’s son-in-law (the child’s father). She was forced to take care of the baby while on the run, and was left with no choice than to breastfeed her for several months till they were able to find a charity staff who then took them to a Save The Children clinic in the North-East.

Narrating her experience, Aisha said:

I was sleeping at the time but a neighbor woke me and told me to take what I could and run. The bullets were the size of my finger and they were firing them everywhere. I am old so I tried to run with a group of men but we were captured by the insurgents. They slaughtered one of the men in front of me.”’
