Nigerian Institutions presently called 'notorious' can eventually be great
Sequel to the article presently trending the internet concerning some universities that parents should not send their children to; I have a question to ask: 'must we always view things from the bad side?'
Many at times, we make the mistake of condemning things and people, because of some wrongs they do, and tend not to notice that even from those wrongs we can find the good things about them. I must but say that a lot is wrong with that perspective.
Is there a need for guide when there is no sign of needing correction? Is there a need for the counsellor or teacher's correction when all got it right? Is there a world without errors? Or can you show me a product that did not pass through processing? No! There is always a story behind every glory/success. Every star once had a scar!
Of a sincere truth, there are really lots of universities whose present state of organisation and administration discourage youths and scholars from opting into, but does that make them a write off? Is that the only point from which we can see them?
Every institution, I say have a problem, either resolved or unattended to. If we say that because of too many problems in these institutions that we are not going to put in for them, what then should become of the pioneers who had great visions in mind of which was to impart knowledge and good virtues into lifes? Are they going to offer those knowledge to buffalos or rodents initially prepared for specimens? Or what will the great alumnis that have gone through the hurdles successfully and who already have the institution on their C.Vs do? Should the institutions go into extinction and the alumnis have a none-existing institution on their C.Vs? No! I don't think so. I think we need to begin to look at it from another angle.
What if we attend such institutions and make a change? What if we go there and make a difference? What if we go there and put an end to those unpleasant and unwanted virtues and act right? Can we not do it? Absolutely, we can!
Nelson Mandela would have given up on South Africa when the colonist would not give him a chance, but he didn't. Abraham Lincoln would have permitted the continuity of slave trade seeing that the cruel would not stop being cruel, but he actually did not. Thomas Watt would have given up the dream of inventing a bulb when he was faced with the odds of achievements but he did not. In fact, God should have given up and put an end to we humans when he found out that we are ingrates, unfaithful, immoral, unyielding and devious generations, but he did not!
It's a thing of determination. The pioneers and visioneers of such institutions can't make it good all alone. What is your contribution towards making it great? What will I do or what will you do if admitted to such institution that we call bad? No matter how odd.
Standards can be terribly and horribly turtured, but they shouldn't be puntured to break loose. Let's not look down at the future of any institution. We are the institution, not the name nor the structure. Remember that cultism in Nigeria began at the first and best Institution yet, that never crippled the institution nor did that make it a scrap. We can make every institution great, in fact it is in our hands to make even our nation, Nigeria, to rise from its dump ground and mount its throne of dignity, intergrity and respect, isn't that what we really are?
Let's make the difference dear friends, the stars shine out their difference in the dark sky, the generals make known their difference at the war front, let's lift up the labour of our heroes past as united nigerians! Let's return back and hope and not just hope, but also act right. Let's all fulfill our pledge as compatroits and show the world that we have done it before and we can do it again.
It's not a mere argument of fact or just a correction to an article, but a standard. Let's lift up our standards with united hearts.
Thanks...
